How to punish BP? Give it a dunking

Dan Gross asks how to punish BP. I’m thinking we set up dunk tanks around the Gulf of Mexico with BP officials and executives seated in them. Anyone who wants can come throw as many balls as they like, with BP paying for the balls at, say, $1,000 each. It pays $5,000 every time an executive gets dunked. The money goes to clean-up efforts. That will bring tourists to these now depressed areas — BP CEO Tony Hayward will rotate to different dunk tanks to spread the wealth — and we’ll avoid having lawyers make a lot of money while they clog the court system. BP will pay plenty and perhaps learn a quality control lesson.
